Seems like the leaves are turning much earlier this year. The weather has been perfect-- cool, but not freezing nights coupled with warm sunny days produce optimum leaf color. Aspen color is still spotty but should be showing well on the high trails this week and next-- try Inner Basin, Abineau-Bear Jaw and Veit Spring. I even observed some patches of gold at the 7000' level today. Will post today's hike in the next couple of days. As usual on my first fall color hike of the season, I went a little nuts with the camera, so it will take me awhile to sort through.....
